Thinking of getting a Vauxhall Mokka X?

Why buy the Vauxhall Mokka X?

If you want a practical small SUV that offers excellent value for money, the Vauxhall Mokka X could be just what you’re looking for. It has enough space for a family of four to travel comfortably, as well as supportive seats and a smooth ride that help to make journeys comfortable. Every model comes with lots of features as standard and most cost notably less to buy than some similar cars.

Vauxhall Mokka X range and updates

The Mokka was first sold in 2012. In late 2016 it was updated with new styling including a different front grille and improved suspension for a more comfortable ride. It was also renamed Mokka X and it’s that model, sold new from 2016 to 2019 that we’re covering here.

You can choose between petrol or diesel engines and manual or automatic gearboxes. Some models also have four-wheel drive. Trim and equipment packages range from the value-focused Active to the top-of-the-range, rather luxurious Ultimate.

The Mokka X was replaced in 2020 by a brand new Mokka that’s also available as a pure-electric model.

Vauxhall Mokka X tech and features

Vauxhalls tend to be generously equipped with features and that’s true of the Mokka X. All models have climate control, cruise control, Bluetooth and DAB radio. Many also have sat nav. The top-of-the-range Elite and Ultimate models also have heated steering wheels and heated leather seats.

Vauxhall Mokka X running costs and value

In models with a petrol engine, the Mokka X can give you an average fuel economy of up to 47mpg, according to official figures, which is right on the money for this type of car. Diesel models can give up to 72mpg – again, very competitive for a small SUV, although models with an automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive dip down to 44mpg. The annual Vehicle Excise Duty(car tax) is at the low end of the scale for most models – in some cases only £20.

Vauxhall Mokka X vs rivals

Rivals to the Mokka X include the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur. The Nissan looks more distinctive than the Vauxhall, which may appeal to you, the Peugeot is more fuel efficient and all three feel better to drive. But the Vauxhall gives you an appealing combination of space, comfort and value.
