October Activity: Zero to Hero, Le Tour DU

Throughout October we will be supporting the charity Wessex Cancer Trust who provide support with people and families living with Cancer.  For more information their website is www.wessexcancer.org.uk.  From September they are working with partners to raise money as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness.  Cancer at any age is hard to deal with but for children it can be particularly challenging.  We will be raising money which will be used in their support facilities, making sure children get the help that they need.

The challenge

We will be running the campaign from 1st October to 31st October 2019.
The challenge itself is very simple;

• Starting out with a rubber duck we have one month to head out and carry out a series of trades to obtain an item of higher value each time.  This is being run in each of our 14 sites in the UK

• In November we will raffle/auction the final items with all money raised going to Wessex Cancer Trust

Be a part of this – contact your local site to see what they currently have on offer for trade!

Le Tour DU

Andy McGhee is the founder of Pinnacle Performance, is a Team GB Athlete and undertakes extreme challenges to raise money.  In 2015 he ran 7 marathons in 7 days… barefoot, raising £10K for Southampton Hospital Charity.

This year Andy is going bigger!!

Introducing Le Tour DU
Andy will be running 22km, cycling 160km and then another run of 22km everyday… for 10 days (That is one marathon and 100mile ride every day).  This will be starting in Morocco on 11th October and ending in Southampton on 20th October.

Why is he doing this? To raise money for Wave 105 Cash for Kids who supports disadvantaged, vulnerable, sick and disabled children and teenagers.

The charity responds to the needs of children in our communities so they can live life to the full and realise their individual potential.  Last year the charity helped over 65,174 children and ensured 38,000 children living in poverty received a present at Christmas time.

Through their grant rounds, Wave 105 Cash for Kids has bought items such as sensory play equipment, a sturdy stroller for a child with brittle bones, computer equipment to get children in a deprived area of Christchurch into apprenticeships, counselling sessions, school shoes and uniform and basic clothing for children who are fleeing domestic violence – to name but a few.

Imperial Cars are proud to be supporting this and to help raise funds for such an important charity!
