Skoda gives Octavia go-anywhere appeal with new Scout model
Designed to give those who prefer to travel off the beaten path an option in the Octavia range, the Scout features chunkier bumpers and a ride height increased by 15mm over the standard car. Larger mudguards are included too, along with either 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
All-wheel-drive is available, though this is the first time that a Scout model has been released with front-wheel-drive as an option. It allows people to access the rugged looks of the Scout but without the necessity to have all-wheel-drive.
All-wheel-drive cars make use of either a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel or 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which both use a six-speed manual gearbox. There’s also a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid setup, but this is reserved for front-wheel-drive variants.
Two range-topping engines - a higher-tuned 2.0-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre petrol - are also available with all-wheel-drive, and can only be selected with a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Inside the Scout you’ll find contrasting brown stitching on the seats, as well as a full infotainment system with 10-inch touchscreen display.
