End of Paper Driving Licences June 8th 2015

From June the 8th the paper counterpart of driving licences will longer be valid. These hold your driving number, provisional driving information, endorsements and your driver history. Instead, all of this information will be held on the DVLA database.

Photo cards and paper driving licences will however continue to be in use.

Did you know that your driving licence has codes on it to show if you are an organ donor and also if you are licenced to drive a motorbike? Click here for details on licence codes.

The DVLA will want drivers to check their driving licence information on line. To do this all you will need is your driving licence number, national insurance number and your postcode. A print out of your of your licence will be available if needed, say for hiring a car. Here is the link you will need to access your driving licence info https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
